G-Dog Theatrical Premiere Set for April 25

Updated: April 4, 2013

G-Dog, a documentary about Fr. Greg Boyle, S.J., and Homeboy Industries in Los Angeles, written and directed by Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Freida Mock (Maya Lin: A Strong Vision), will make its theatrical debut at the Laemmle Monica 4-Plex, 1332 2nd Street in Santa Monica, on April 25 at 7:30 p.m. A Q-and-A with Fr. Boyle and Mock will follow the screening of the film.

G-Dog is about second chances – about a charismatic visionary who launched the largest, most successful gang intervention and rehab program in the U.S., now an international model, Homeboy Industries.

G-Dog tells the entertaining, hilarious and unlikely story of how a white Jesuit priest became an expert in gang lives. G-Dog’s unstoppable compassion has transformed the lives of thousands of Latino, Asian, and African American gang members.

His Homeboy Industries in Los Angeles, with a 70% success rate at redirecting kids away from gang life, is global in influence – Manchester, Toronto, Hamburg, Rio, and other cities have set up similar programs, providing tattoo removal, job training, counseling, yoga, and fatherhood and substance abuse classes – all free.

G-Dog is part of a seven-film documentary series by Cinedigm, which manages nearly 1200 documentary films through its partnerships with producers and aggregation partners.
